Subject: grease your non greasable ball joints IP: Logged
Message: I found a way to grease some non greasable parts on our Daks. Wheel bearing hubs, and ball joints. Heres how:
1)Ball joints: buy a grease injector needle for your grease gun, Attatch it and poke it into the rubber on the ball joint and pump it in. The hole is so small the grease wont come back out and its so small it will seal itself.
2)bearing hubs: These litle gems look like they are a sealed unit that cannot be greased, but I found a way. Inside the hubs there are actually two seperate bearings with only one seal on each of the bearings. Both seals are on the outsides of the bearings with no seal in between them. There is small enough space between there to kneed in some grease in with your hands like you were packing normal bearings. It takes some time but it worked for me.

Message: I have used a needle to inject grease into my Tripot and CV joints. After I inject the grease i use rubbing alchol to clean the injection site and then smear a thin coat of Black flexabile RTV over the punture. I have always done this and have never had a CV joint fail. I also taught all my friends and family this trick. I have OEM 16 year CV joints on my truck and 4 wheel it alot and leave the hubs locked all winter long!!!!

Message: greasing non greaseable ball joints or tie rod joints can be economical, if you succeed you add the mileage if not you have to change them anyway. after injecting the ball joints/tie rod joints through the rubber boots, clean with alcohol and patch the puncture with silicon sealant like one used for aquarium tank or one on oil sump.
