Subject: Oil Testing !!!!

In two months I will be testing my current crank case oil. I will be testing the Mobil-1 at 4 month mark and we will see what we see. I will post the results to the site as best I can. I have bought half of the Amsoil I will need for the next oil change. I will be useing the same brand and model number filter for each set of tests. I want to evaluate the oil not the filter systems. Both oils are the same weight. I will also be useing the same type of OEM style air filter. I will test the Amsoil at the same 4 month mark just to make the test fair. I just thought I would let everyone know what I have planed. I would like it if everyone did at least one oil test of their oil. It would be nice to get a list of oil and filter types and time or miles and results. If their is one thing I know it is that white papers only tell half the story when it comes to parts or chemicals.

Well this first one is going to be through Black Stone Lab. I am going to become a prefered Amsoil customer here soon. It is the only way I can realy afford to use their products. Today 3 quarts of Amsoil 10w30 origanal formula came to $18.30 that means $36.60 for a complete oil change. If the results show a difference I will be sold and will attempt longer drain intervals. I belive that AMsoil has a deal worked out with a lab that will do the testing for $9.95 for prefered customers. I will use that lab then.

I would be interested to know about the possibility of preferred customer pricing of about $10 for anlaysis and who with. I currently pay the $14/container for analysis by Oil Analyzers. The containers are bought direct thru AMSOIL and the $14 is the dealer/preferred cust cost as well as retail cost.

Just got back an analysis of engine oil after 9000 miles. % of nitration was higher than it should be and it knocked the viscosity out of range. Truck is at dealer today looking for leaks on the intake side of the motor, bad o-rings, vacumn leaks, bad gaskets, evap. emmission control system. Unfortunately I don't expect the techs to find anything. We will see.

2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group,
Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock
3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL
