Subject: Finally found the stumbling prob

Message:
After all the money and time I have invested into finding my off idle stumble, it showed up on its own. Replaced all, and I mean all sensors $$$ new wires, cap & rotor, injectors, belly pan gasket, you name it I replaced it. It turned out to be my Fu%$in cat. It was not ratteling or smelling funny so I never thought about it. The engine would start up fine, and idle good, but after a minute it would bog down, and almost die like it was air in the fuel line. Once I was driving it it would be fine. It did seem to lack alot of power at times too. I was getting awsome gas mileage as well (23Hwy & 18Cty). For those of you with similar symptoms, this may be it.
In the past I have had to do my belly pan gasket four times, so I think the oil getting into my intake eventually started to clog my cat. Once the O2 sensor would begin to read off of the cat after start up it would tell the eng to run lean, (hence my stumble). A couple of weeks ago I noticed a slight vibration from the exhaust and a humm, but attributed it to a loose hanger. Now it is getting louder so I tap on the cat and what do you know, it sounds like all the ceramic guts are sitting in one piece on the bottom of the cat. Normally I would get a Cat box , and just gut it but if I ever want to trade up it will need to be leagal, so Im gettin a Carsound Cat put in next week. I pray this will fix it, and restore my faith in dodge. If not I may have to get a Cheby.

Thanks for this post. It gave me another item to check. I have been having what I call a flat spot in my acceleration and a strange exhaust noise when hitting a large bump in the road. Kind of sounds like a tool box full of loose tools in the bed.
