Subject: check engine light.... IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport.....I have customized it!! I have installed...an open air iduction kit....trottle body plate... high flow cat. and custom exhaust...racing suspention.... ect... ect.... But, I am having problems with my "check engine" light.....it keeps coming on.... I know that there is nothing wrong with my truck...but with the high flow exhaust....the computer thinks there is a leak....but, there is not!! My question is....Is there anything I can do to get that light to go off and stay off??? I have heard that there is a " trick" that can be done to make it stay off,... but have no idea what it could be. Any help would be great!!! Thanks!!!

Best thing for you to do would be go to a AutoZone and let them pull the codes to see what is tripping the MIL

Message: I have a 2000 and im always getting the check engine light when i scan it for the code trip and cruise flash and it doesnt return a code. I have reset the pcm once and it stayed off for a couple of days. I can see anything being wrong with it as there is only 28,000 kms on it.
thanks

Message: Check a little more in depth how the PCM determines that there is an exhaust leak. That might be at fault. Off hand I have not read another post with the exhaust leak issue from a free flow exhaust. On the various Dakota forums ther are all kinds of exhausts from true duals, and without cats and no mufflers.

Message: Possibly a kat box from KRC would help. Although I think that is for the o2 sensor elimination but it might be worth looking into.
