I hear some of you talk about driving around in the snow in 4x4. I would like to know if I can drive my Dakota in 4hi on the street in the rain or the snow for extra traction? I know the manual says not on dry, hard-packed surfaces or paved surfaces, but how about a hard-packed or paved surface that might be slippery?

Snow is fine, I wouldn't do rain though.

You have to make sure that the surface that you are driving on is slipery enough to allow tire slip. Snow on the roads No problem. Even heavy rain but would not recomend. Just dont go barraling down dry road in 4 hi. Gravel roads or hard packed dirt is also fine in my experiance. just avoid hard turning dont use your full turning radius. It will screw up your drivetrain components. Andrew you keep asking questions like is this hard or will that hurt it Trust me your truck can handle a lot. Put some faith in the dodge. It will hold under extreme stress. the engines that dodge puts in there trucks can not create the power needed to destroy the heavy duty drivetrain that dodge puts on unless you really beat it up. Just drive.
