Subject: squeaky brakes IP: Logged
Message: hey just wondering if its normal for the brakes to squeak in a brand new dakota, i just got my 2003 r/t last week and it squeaks sometimes with the brakes.my dad told me its just cuz its new and itll go away?is this true.

Message: Not sure if yours are squeaking for the same reason one of mine is since your truck is so new but sometimes debris will get between the rotor and the pads and cause a squeak,

Message: ESPI, the reason why your brakes are so squeaky, is because after the year 2000, the EPA forced Chrysler to stop using asbestos in their brake pads, and that causes then to squeak. If you want to stop the squeaking i suggest you get a set of performance brake pads.

Message: that may be but it does not explain why all 4 of the late model mopars in my driveway squeek, all wheel disks on 2 of them 1 has 80,000 the other has 256 on the clock and both the dak (58,000) and the caravan (130,000) squeek and they both have drum rears.
