Subject: Trailer Wiring IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 QC with the tow package on it. I also have a cargo trailer with a 6 pin connector. My truck has 7 pin connector. I bought an adapter and everything works just fine. EXCEPT one day I was going down the road about 60 mph with the trailer on it and the trailer brakes locked up. They would not release until I unplugged the connector. My question is, do the Dakotas have a built in brake controller or what is wrong with it? It does the same thing on my friends truck and he has the same thing. The brakes only lock up once in awhile. I checked the wiring and everything looks to match up right but it never works. What do I need to do???? Please help ASAP!!!!!

Message: Check the trailer or the adapter. The electric brake unit connector is under a panel on the driver's side dash and unless you put one in, there isn't one.
