Subject: Ext. Warranty IP: Logged
Message: Well, truck is almost a year old and it has about 10k miles on it. Got a letter from DC asking if I'd like to get an ext. warranty on top of the 3/36k or 30k (cant remember) and 7/100,000 powertrain warranties. Anyone here got one of these ext. warranties? I never buy ext. warranties as most of the time they are rip offs but hey, this is my first truck =) The borchure listed a lot of things the ext. warranty would fix but what do they define as "fixable?" I know some stuff on the basic 3 year warranty which they say they cover, usually they dont =/
Thanks

Message: I bought a used 2000 Qc 4x4 slt loaded. it had 28k on it. My mom works for Deset chrysler in Vegas, and I got the " Employee discount" I checked with two other Chrysler dealers in Vegas and two in Boise. Price for 7 yr 100K was $1,930.00 $50 deductible. I thought this was way high, but retail was over 3600 ( or so they said.)
It covers 5000 parts.
I can scan and e-mail if you want to see what is listed. Nottie

Message: Well, I mean would it be worth spending the $1300 or so for the warranty? What will they exactly fix ie say my engine blows up, is that covered? I know they will fix minor things like power windows and such but I'm talking about bigger things such as blown gaskets, etc.

Message: Over 5000 components:
"Engine block and all internal parts, cylinder head assemblies, timing case, gears, chain, and sprocket,Harmonic balancer, oil pump, water pump,intake/exhaust manifold, flywheel, starter ring gear, core plugs, valve covers, oil pan, fuel injectors, serpentine belt tensioner, seals and gaskets for listed components only" Trans- case and all internal components, torque conv. range switch, control module, bell housing, oil pan, gaskets for listed components only.
this is just a partial list, but the list is very extensive, I would suggest getting a copy of the Maximum care Plan provisions from your dealer, to see for yourself.
Additionally, if you wait past 12,000, 24, 000 etc you will be charged a premium fee. I paid $200.00 extra because I was over 24k but under 36k. Hope this helps. Nottie

Message: Remember, dealers set their own prices for warranties but they all pay the same. You can safely assume that whatever they are selling it for their cost was almost half of that.

Message: You should have until your current warranty expires before deciding. If you have a trouble free truck, dont buy the warranty, if you expect trouble, then go for it.

Message: Definately shop around. I was looking at getting an extended warranty before I lost my mind and traded my 2000 CC V6 in for a 2002 QC V8.
I found a Dodge dealer somewhere in the midwest i think with a website selling the warranties for WAY less than anyone else. I showed my local dealer and he said he'd match it. Of course then he proceeded to talk me into trading in for a new one anyway!
Do a search for Dodge Extended Warranty on Google and you'll find it.

Message: Just make sure that you buy the DC extended warranty and not one of those Aftermarket warranties that most dealers try to sell you for alot less. The advantage of the DC warranty is that there is NO 800 # to call for approval and it is accepted at ALL DC repair shops. If you drive alot or plan on keeping the truck for 5 years or more then get it.
