Subject: Strange roaring sound when first startin IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 2002 Quad cab with the 4.7 auto. Sometimes when I start the truck and then start to drive it seems like its in ultra low gear or something. The truck has no power nad the engine roars. After a few hundred yards it seems to shift or somehting and everything is normal again. It does this randomly regardless of temp, humidity, etc. Any ideas

Message: It's easy, mine's been gone since the 3rd month on a 01 QC. It should still have some power though. I've got a 5spd. Could be that !@#$%auto!

Message: I wasn't really comfortable giving it alot of gas with that roaring going on:) So the power is proably there if I just step on it. After reading your reply, I had a look under the hood. What the heck! Two fans?? Surely one electric fan should be enough. I mean com one... I traded my Mustang GT in on the Dak, it had the 4.6 litre V-8 and it only needed the one electric fan!

Message: when you remove the fan, it's a good idea to put in a 180 t-stat. Of course if you live in Alaska don't worry about the t-stat.
