Subject: Wheel Center Caps Stolen/Falling off?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have had 3 missing in the last year, is someone stealing them, or has anybody had experience with them falling off?
I am talking about the little 2 inch center caps on the aluminum factory wheels.
Please let me know if there is a problem with them falling off, so maybe I can glue? or something to assure they stay in place...
Thanks!

I have had my dakota for a little over a year and have put over 26,000 miles on it and haven't had any problems with the center caps falling off. I am not saying it isn't possible, but somebody in your area may just like having them, who knows!

as a teenager i can tell you its likely someone is taking them for the sole purpose of just taking them. perhaps a neighbor kid or something if its happened a bunch of times. i have friends that will just take antennas off cars for no reason and i dont understand it

Is the front ones are the ones falling off? If so ,the heat from the front brakes heat up them small plastic caps and eventually get hard and fall out. I had a ram and replaced the front ones about seven times before i figured out whats was happening. I little weatherstripping adhesive should cure your problem.

I had one fall off after the tire mech. didn't push it in all the way after having new tires put on my truck. Challenged the tire place about replacing it and they said unless I could prove it happened as a result of their mech. negligence then they could not do anything for me.

I also noticed 3 lug nuts that look like they have been replaced with plain old stock lug nuts and they told me how they are actually 2 pieces pressed together and seperate sometimes....especially after someone uses a impact gun on them......like tire mechs do. They couldn't help me there either....of course. Said if he had any spares left he would put them on.

I can confirm that the lugs are two piece pressed together, a regular old lug nut and a cap that makes it look good. I had one come apart on me, just glued it with some epoxy and havne't had any problems.

THEY FALL OFF! They are a poor design. I have
gloss black with a machined outer ring that is
held on by one screw. The black center hub snaps
(poorly ) into that ring. I could get a
replacement anywhere ( from Rev ) although several
distributors tried to order them for me. Ive only
had my wheels for 9 months so the place I bought
them for finally stepped up and gave me one of the
showroom wheels. I thought the first one might
have been stolen, but now ...less than a week
later, my same replacement is missing. Suggest
using some type of epoxy if yours are the same
design as mine, the next step is to never , ever,
purchase Rev wheels again......at any price.
