Well, its been about 1 1/2 months since I had to take my dakota in the autobody shop for some repainting/buffing (some dumb ass kids thought it would be cool to write their names on my truck in the dirt). Now, some of the marks are coming back (where it was buffed not repainted) and I was woundering other than bitching at the autoshop to paint that part, what are some good ways to keep black paint looking good? Whenever I wash my truck, I either go to a laser wash place (uses high pressure water, nothing touches car) or I do it by hand with 2in1 soap (wax/soap). Any good buffing kits I should be aware of? I just notice some annoying swirl scratches pretty much everywhere heh.

Also, Im thinking about taking my decals off and woundering on a black truck, would the areas where the decals were be there? You know, that part of the paint hasnt met the outside world yet. I know buffing could take it out but they will return once the buff wears off.

Maybe I should have gotten a white truck =/

Try some 3M Fill and Glaze (PINK) you can get it from your local auto paint supply store. That should clear up your swirls. Then go over with some Body Magic finish wax.

You won't be disappointed.

Z-Tube, R/T Rims, SSB Rear Disc Conversion, Alpine Head-Unit, Infinity Kappa Speakers, SilverStar Headlights, HO Cams & Intake in the box.

So what size flux capacitor you got in there?

My truck was buffer burned by the auto body shop that did my repairson my 2 month old new truck. I was F'n pissed. They took it back and used some stuff that worked ok. I have since stripped all wax and gone with ZAINO products only. I have used Maguires, 3M swirl out and some others none give that swirl gone super deep shine like ZAINO. Plus the spray on ultra high gloss is awesome. On black paint this is the stuff to use IMO! I go off roading allot and get scratches, this does the job.
You see no swirl marks and scratches are hidden by the Ultra high gloss and reflectivity.

DON'T use a buffer with Zaino. Zaino you apply all by hand.

Yeah you do not use a buffer with Zaino. I would save your money on the buffer. Zaino is easy to use and does not cake or bake on making it easy to remove. I would do the whole process. Strip the old wax using Dawn, Clay bar, then Scratch swirl remove a couple times, then polish wax. (Since I off Road allot I do not use a polish coat just add a layer of the scrath remover to it when needed), Then use the Ultra high gloss after each wash and you should be happy with the results. May sound like allot but the end result is awesome. You may spend bit for the stuff but it works great.
