Message: You didn't say if you had a 2wd or 4x4, but the name to look it up by would be gear set or ring and pinion. I hear it will make a big difference, especially with a v6 cc. If you have a 4x4 you will need a set of front and rear gears.
If you plan on getting taller tires or don't care about lossing a mpg you might want to get 4.10 or even 4.56. The higher the # the harder your truck will pull through the gears. The taller the tire over stock the higher the number gear to keep the off the line acceleration.
The only down side is that you rpm at 60mph will be higher. Go to one of these web site and use thier rpm calculator to get an idea of what kind of inpact on your rpm's the gear set will have.(www.reiderracing.com, www.ring-pinion.com, www.drivetrain.com) These sites also sell the parts you are looking at and might have what you want.
You might want to check out other post in this, the performance and v8 forum. The posts like 4.56 gears (v6),rear end ratio (v6), and ones on lorkers,sure-grip,lsd will give you some insigt into what you really want.

Message: I did the swap on my 4X4 and it made a very noticeable difference. Your RPM's on the highway will only go up about 10%, but the truck will feel more responsive. Before the swap I was getting constant converter locking and unlocking, hunting for gears, etc between 45-60 mph. Not any more. I don't have any acceleration data, but all I can say is that the gear swap made my truck more responsive and more enjoyable to drive. I didn't notice a drop in gas mileage, but then again I don't track mileage all that closely (I just glance at the overhead gas mileage display now and then) because I didn't buy the truck to save money on gas.
Randy's Ring and Pinion (www.ring-pinion.com) can quote prices and sell you the gears over the phone...they won't sell over the internet because they want to make sure you're getting the right parts.
