Message: FastRTdakota,
I agree 100% with you. I used to detail cars part time. I only used the best. I had a lot of high-end Mercedes and BMW owners return to me to have their cars done. I used the 3M micro polish with the foam pad and I never had problems with swhirl marks. I would top off the buff-n-polish job with the Meguires liguid wax. It was a little cheaper than the 3M and it shined slightly better than the 3M. Nothing beet the 3M for buffing and polishing. There are several good wax manufactures out there. If you can get the Blue Coral to apply right it outlast and outshines both the Meguires and the 3M. The Meguires is so easy to apply and it leaves no swirl marks that I will never use anything else. I have to admit that the new stuff Eagle One came out with works very well. I tried it last August on my R/T. They were giving away 1oz free samples of it at a local AutoZine where I live. It goes on wet. You just spray it on and wipe it off when you chamie. It is still beading today. It doesn't cover blimishes, but it does seam to protect as good as anything else I've used without turning the black plastic gray.

Message: I had the same problem on my door handles. A auto detailer told me to heat up some creamy peanut butter and wipe it on the door handles. I let it sit for a minute and wiped it off. The wax build up is gone. He says the oil in the peanut butter removes the wax. This is not a BS post it really works.

Message: I used to know the name of a product made for discolored exterior plastic and I can't remember the name of it. A DUPONT auto paint supplier (the place I bought 3M-Micro Polish) had little 4oz bottles of it. It wasn't made by DUPONT or 3M. It worked miracles on black plastic that had turned gray. Ypu used it everyday until you got the results you wanted. It required you to allow a day in the sun. So you had to put it on and wait untill the next day. I used it on my 93 Dakot's black mirrors and door handles and after 4 applications they looked better than new. The stuff was clear and it was thinner than water. It was guarantied to protect the plastic for over a year. I never had to touch them again. Unfortunately, I don't remember who made it. I don't think it ever made any money and they quit making it. It was very expenseive.

Message: BLACK AGAIN and FOREVER BLACK will both work. I actually think forever black is just black shoe polish.

Message: Go get one of those $5-6 battery toothbrushes. Apply a bit of water, or cleaner if you'd like, and go over the handles real well. Works great, and doesn't dry out like most of the Back-to-Black like products.

Message: It's possible that stuff is shoe polish. I know for a fact shoe polish can be used. When I was in the military I knew a guy that actually "spit shined" his black dash board on his 72 Ford PU with black shoe polish and it looked really good.
