Subject: best looking bed cap for quadcab IP: Logged
Message: just getting some opinions on caps for a 02 quadcab 4x4, graphite grey. If anyone has any pics, I would appreciate if you could post or e-mail me. Also prices everyone paid. I got a quote of $1350 for a leer 100xq painted and installed, Im not sure if this is a good price or not. By the way I live in the chicagoland area.

tony597fitter, I'd help you if I could, but I'm a tonneau owner...haven't even looked at toppers for the Dak. I can offer up one piece of advise though. While some of the newer, sleeker designed toppers offer improved visibility due to larger windows, the glass is tremendously expensive to replace. As such, you may want to check with your insurance company to make sure that they will indeed cover your topper & its glass under your vehicle's policy.
A buddy of mine had a Leer cap on his F150. Unfortunately, a semi bounced a rock off of a retaining wall & through his topper's side window. That piece of tinted glass ended up costing him a little over $600 to replace...and insurance said that they would not cover it because of some section in his insurance policy.

Message: window-less Leer on mine. I paid around $1100, could have been less, painted to match truck. Can't remember the exact cost since I bought it with the truck and didn't pay any dealer markup. My only pic is the one to the left. Good luck.

Message: Take a look at ARE tops. They look very sharp and have one that almost makes the truck look like a sport utility. I will be getting one before hunting season.

Message: Tony,
I bought an ARE "Z" model when I first got my 2001 QC and I've had NO complaints and plenty of compliments, after 18 months. Everything about this topper/cap is top quality! I also added some "upgrades" like inside insulation, sliding front window, interior light, etc. so the price was about $1,600.00. The paint is TOP quality (DuPont) and matches the truck color perfectly. From what I've read so far, Leer is NOT top quality, so you should really look at either ARE or SnugTop brands for just a few more bucks...
I can send you some pics if you'd like... email me at mhillman3@cfl.rr.com
