Changed my 4x4 front and rear drive gears out to 3.92 ratio.
Sooo, anybody wanna buy my 3.55's from me?
Out of a 2000 4x4 Dakota CC with V6 5 spd (low mileage):
3.55 ratio rear 8.25" r&p
3.55 ratio front C205 (corporate 8") r&p
rear 8.25" open case carrier.
$200 for everything?

I know you're selling them, but I've got a couple questions related to it. How easy was it to install? How much did the gears cost? I'm thinking about doing it, but haven't decided yet, was it worth it?

NYSubDak, somewhat unrelated to your post, where are you from in NY again? I think we had this conversation in a "Who is is NY" thread a while back. I actually have the same question as oregondak since I have 3.55's in my 01 with 33's and would like some 3.92's to get back some of the lost power.

Yes, I feel it was worth it. I had a shop do the work, but I would have felt comfortable doing the back myself. I got the rears used for good price, but new they can be had for $170. The fronts were a different story. In 2000, Dodge went to a corporate axle with a slightly smaller o.d. ring gear. Currently the only place to get replacement gears for this diff. (called a C205) is from a dealer. They run $300 plus for ring and pinion only.

I'm from Baldwinsville, near Syracuse. I was told by one resaler that the C205mm front diff was only used for 6 months. I don't know if this is true, or what axle is on a truck newer than that, but, you may be able to find better front gear pricing if they went to a more common setup.

If you haven't already, stick your gears in the Swap Sheet, you can practically walk into their office and place the ad! The Swap Sheet is my best friend for clearing out the house, shed, etc:)
Thanks for the info, who did you have install the gearsand do you recommend them? I am seriously thinking about getting new 3.92 gears through my Uncle's auto shop at dealer cost and having a professional shop install them. Unfortunately, my uncle doesn't have a mechanic who is experienced in installing gears so I have to pay full price for labor:( I went to Phoenix H.S. and live in Central Square now, heh, small world sometimes. Been to the State Fair yet? Past couple days has been lousy, glad I haven't went yet If I go at all.

Kevin Peck of Kevin's Kar Kare, 695-4652. You probably know him, since he is located on rte 57 north of Phoenix near RFH's. He is very knowledgeable. He did beautiful work on my neighbors factory-five Cobra.
