Subject: Crate engine questions IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 Dakota 5.2 CC 4WD (5 speed manual)that will need to have engine work in a little while. Can one of the crate 5.9 (360) magnum engines mopar sells be used when retro fitted with all of the existing equipment in my truck? (Computer, distributor, Intake, exhaust, cooling, fuel delivery, transmission, etc) It seems that this would be the way to go instead of just rebuilding the seemingly weak 5.2 If so which one would work out the best. Would the higher horsepower version be too much for the stock electronics (fuel injection)? Thanks for the help. I would do the work myself. I am a former motorhead/drag racer.

Message: You will have to buy a computer for an RT or a Ram2500 of the same year, the 318 and the 360 are different enough to need a different computer.
