Subject: A/C Blower Fan Switch

Message:
My ac/heater blower fan switch suddenly stopped working in the first three positions. It will work in the 4th position (max). The a/c light will not light in the first three position but will come on when I select the max position. I've checked the fuses in the cab and under the hood and everything checks OK. I believe the switch is bad or the wires are loose. Has anyone had a problem similar to this? If so, what did you do to correct it? Can anyone tell me how to deassemble the panel so I can get to the back side of the switch? I don't want to buy a new switch until I've verified it is bad.

Thanks, 2001 Dakota

Thanks for the response. I've checked the relays under the hood, but may have overlook one. Do you know where the relay is located or exactly which relay it is?

Mike

On 01 Daks there is only 1 relay and blower circuit. If the blower works on High, the relay is functioning properly. Your problem is a bad blower resistor block. The resistor block is located in the cab, left of the blower motor on the bottom of the HVAC plenum.
