Subject: Advice on 4 Cyl. Dak... IP: Logged
Message: I have a regular cab 4-cyl dakota. It's a nice truck. It has the power i need, i don't have anything to tow. I have just been using it to go back and forth form school. But now i am goin going to california for college. A dodge dealership down the street has a used 4 Cyl. Club Cab. I was going to see if they would trade it for mine, because mine is a year younger and has about 10,000 miles less than the used one. I don't have enough money for a new dak, and i need the extra inside storage space. What do you guys think? Like i said, i don't need the power of a V6, just something to get me around for the next few years.

Message: I used to own a 4 cyl 98 club cab with a 5 spd. Let me put it to you like this. once you load that truck up with all your stuff (and you know its going to be full of things that aren't really light) and start driving it, if you have to go over any mountains where the speed limit is 55, 4th gear is going to be your friend. The club cab 2.5 does well hauling it's own weight around - its still sluggish, but at least respectable. When you add weight, you'd better know how to drive it if you expect to keep it moving.

Message: you could always invest in a cap for the bed that would give u lots of weather-tight storage, thats what I would do.

Message: I have towed several boats with my truck and had no problems. Towed a boat with a full load of furniture in it from Texas to Georgia, and the bed full of boxes. I didnt get over 75, but I made it and the truck ran good. Good on gas to. I cant complain about my 4 cyl at all. With the few mods I have made it has met all my requirements.

Message: personally i think I4's are pathetic. Adding 600 lbs with an extra cab would make even less sense. I would keep what u have and haul ur truck on a trailor behind a moving truck... dur.
