Yes,its okay to use a quart of marvel mystery oil to flush the crankcase,it will not strip away boundary lubrication and it actually has fairly significant amount of film strength. It contains oil of wintergreen, napthenic oil and mineral spirits to loosen and dissolve sludge and varnish associated with the use of common dino oils.Leave it in for 50 to 100 miles with a good non-fram oil filter that wont clog up too fast.

Its just kerosene. Its an old mechanic's trick put a half a quart of kero in run it for 10 mins and drain. They also used to run it in the gas tank to clean out carb's. I wouldn't recomend using it though.

I would hope it's not kerosene. I use marvel as a cutting fluid as well as an afterrun oil in my alcohol engines. I use it cause it has a high flashpoint and doesn't smoke like air tool oil.

The problem I see, would be the fact that it may not clean 100% on the first run. Then what happens to the crap that was slightly loosened and remains to eventaully fall off and clog the smaller passageways.

just my two cents!

No,Marvel is not Kerosene or ATF.It is a high quality base of napthenic oil, wintergreen oil, mineral spirits and a little phosphorous. It is safe and effective and there is no reason to discourage its use except in new engines with clean crankcases or that use non-dino oil.yes it is a great cutting oil and after-run oil as well as an occasional engine flush. Its also good in 2 cycle engines used along with 2 cycle oil.Remember,MMO is not just solvent it is an effective lubricant as well with substantial film strength.Dont listen to the alarmist warnings,MMO is safe to use.
