Subject: I hate to WAX! IP: Logged
Message: OK, so it's a nice evening out so I decide to give my Dak a bath and wax her up. I've never waxed her because I've never had much luck getting a wax job to come out good. But this time I bought some Meguires and just "knew" it would be different.
WRONG!
It looked like total crap! I ended up washing it again afterwards to remove all the wax I'd just applied. I've always had this problem! That's why I never wax my vehicles. I've tried all sorts of wax's and polishes and followed the directions to the L E T T E R.... always the same result.
So whats the secret? Should I buy a buffer?
I usually just used the spray on polishes because they seem to work well, they just don't last.
Please help....

Message: Well perhaps you have some light oxidation and need to use a clay bar and spray n shine first, and if you use the meguiars cleaner/wax dont expect the same results as the gold class formula for example.

Message: Try one of those long lasting professional acrylic sealer/polishes like they use on the show car circuit.

Message: Tim, I have your cure.. Use Meguires, # 7 on your dark blue, this goes on easy comes off easy, use soft 100% terry cloth towels also. # 7 puts the oils back into the paint and darkens up the blue or darker colors. then apply 100% Carnuuba wax in the bottle liquid type, NOT PASTE. , same thing clean soft terry cloth towels, you wont be disappointed.. This brings out my Patriot blue AWSOME..

Message: Thanks Kevster, I'll give that a try. It was the Meguires cleaner/wax I tried this time. I used cloth diapers to buff it. It's just like it doesn't want to buff out, leaves streaks and not a nice clear finish. I tried to leave it on longer and shorter... didn't seem to matter.

Message: Dude thats your problem! The cleaner wax is
a first step in a process of three. it is not a wax
in itself. It removes oxidation. The second step
is a sealer and glaze and finally the carnauba
wax itself.
Pick up a book on detailing or find a web site
that can instruct you how to do this correctly
Not waxing your truck will make you kick
yourself down the line.
Be patient, at least you dont have black. It took
me a while to figure out how to do it correctly.

Message: Just remember that waxing removes dead paint and sometimes you may need to wax (polish) several times to get the results you are looking for.
