Anyone know the MFG date of these sleeve trouble making Envoy/TrailBlazer engine? I heard they fixed it later 2002 production line. And if so, how bad the sleeve problem could be? I heard engine automatic shut-off, engine blow-up, etc. Please share some info/experience here.

Sorry to be the girl that joins the forum . . . all I know is that the engine of my boyfriend's TB blew up last weekend in the second hour of a five hour trip. The piston collapsed and the engine block was busted up. The replacement cost is $7500 plus labor and taxes. We just bought the extended warranty 4 weeks ago, have put 30000 kms. on it in the past year, and GM is waffling on repairing the vehicle. Does anyone have any experience about this situation? I can't believe it's not a mnft default. Thanks :)
