What year, or engine is the truck to have? I prefer a V6, is there a really good reliable year to look for? It must be pre '97 for me to afford. I want a low maintenance truck(4x4) to run till death! I Love Dakota's

I wouldn't recommend the V6. I have a 2000 Dak with the 3.7L V6 and let me tell you it sucks down A LOT of gas. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the way I drive but it seems the engine is always working hard.
I'd go with the 4.7L V8. More fuel efficient and more powerful.
