Message: I have a 93 Dak with 318 and 130,000 miles. It runs good but lately the oil pressure has been reading dangerously low like close to zero! Its not making any noises and seems to run as normal but I`m a little worried.I should mention that I added a half quart of marvel mystery oil to the crankcase and it was in there probably 50 miles before I changed oil.Could the MMO be the problem? Does it need to be flushed to remove some dislodged gunk?

Message: I would change the oil and filter right away. I doubt that 1/2 guart of MMO is the problem but by elimanateing it right away that is one less variable. I would get a pressure guage and hook it up in place oil sender. If your lifter are not ticking then you should be fine at idle. Lifter start to tick real bad if the pressure drops below 5-8 psi at idle. Is the pressure comeing up as rpms come up?

Message: Sounds like a bad oil pressure sensor.

Message: I had a 79 Ford truck with lots of miles on it. It ran good and didn't smoke. However, it had LOW oil pressure at low engine speeds. I had a high volume oil pump installed and it increased oil presure to normal levels.
This was a cheap fix compared to a rebuild.
