Howdy! - I've got a 2000 QC 4.7 4x4.
I've heard repeated posts in here about having
the dealer "flash" the computer on both the 4.7
V8 and the 4-speed Auto trans as well.
These "flashes" are supposed to remedy
erratic, stumbling idle in the 4.7 V8, and to
smooth out the shifting behavior somewhat in
the trans.....
Here's my QUESTION:
If I just want to go to the dealer and ask to
have this done, is there a specific procedure
to ask for? Or do I just walk in the door and
ask to have my engine and trans "flashed" ?
Certainly there must be a TSB, or a software
update reference number, or some procedure
number that I can mention?
Curious if that's something that's covered
under warranty work or not, also...!
Thanks to any of you out there who have
already done this - and are kind enough to
share your experience on this!!!!

come on, NOBODY has any idea on this
one?!?!
once again, 4.7 V8 and 45RFE auto trans - I'm
curious what specifically to ask of the dealer to
have the two of the their computers "flashed."

I have no Idea about any 'DEALER FLASH' for the 4.7L. I know that when I recieved my 4.7L that it had an approved UPGRADE. This may be what you are talking about. I didn't care anyway the FACTORY SETTINGS was going as soon as I could get a rental car arranged after I got the Truck. My 2002 DAK had 700 Miles on it before the PCM went to Kenne Bell.
And 375 miles of that was the Drive from the Port at BremmerHaven, Germany to my house. I was so frustrated with the Truck I hated it. Every time I would get out in the left lane to pass someone the DAMM 115 MPH SPEED LIMITER would kick in and there I'd be with some Merc or BMer on my butt waiting for me to get out of their way.
