Message: Not necessarily. Its true that many oil additives are bogus and potentially harmful, such as those targeted by the FTC,like duralube,motor-up and Zmax. However those of us in industry, government and military know there are good additives, but it takes alot of research to find them.PTFE of course, should never be used, however some chlorinated paraffin based additives can be safely used if they have sufficient corrosion inhibitors and a high alkaline reserve to neutralize corrosives. The bottom line, search for a good product from an authorized dealer with the testing to back up its claims of safety and performance, not an off the shelf product like most.Otherwise, use a good synthetic oil, because most petroleum oils just dont deliver because of tendency to vaporize and oxidize which is the reason many people choose to use an oil supplement. If using one of these products is too risky for you, than by all means choose a good synthetic. If you like dino oil then change it frequently.
