Subject: Cold air intake done!! IP: Logged
Message: Finally! I got all the parts in on Friday and built the cold air intake system for my 96 CC on Sunday. Right off the bat I noticed it ran smoother, not a rumble like some other's have noted. It has more pep and get's up to cruising speed faster. I drove it around 140 miles yesterday to pic up a canoe in the mountains and it seemed to use less gas. Hard to tell. I took some pics and will post them later today.
Here's the construction: 97 airhat --> 3" Fernco coupler --> 8" long PVC section (3" dia.) --> 3" Fernco elbow --> 4" long PVC section --> 3" Fernco coupler --> cone filter. Looks butt ugly but who cares??
One build note: a lot of folks talked about having to remove the grill to be able to remove the plastic piece that blocks the stock intake nozzle. I removed mine by popping the tabs from the inside at which point it dropped into the grill area. I used my fingers through the grill front to bring it back up to the now opened hole and pushed it through. Took a little wiggling but it came right out. 2 minutes tops and no grill removal.
Anway, I'll post a note when the pics are up.
