I know u have to tap into the Running Lights somehow but HOW???

i helped my stepfather put one on his 2001 durango, it was a pain in the neck and had to be wired into the running lights via the wires going to the corner markers. and the plastic tabs that are supposed to fit in the stock 2 holes in hood were too big and we had to drill out the hood holes to make them bigger. after all was done it does look pretty cool, kind of lights up a light blue color
