Why did I end up w/ 3.21s the 3.92 will not fit Because I have a 8 1/4 Rear end and now im really stuck. Any way Just thought I would let you know before any one else wasted any money

dont quote me on this, but for the 8 1/4" rear, i beleve you need 3.91's
did you also buy the bearings? if so, do you want to sell everything?

What did you do buy some 3.91s from a R/T? 3.91s can be had for the 8.25" rear.

you could have either 3.92 or 9.91 in your 8.25 inch rear, different companies make different ratio's, you have the wrong size as CW implied, good luck selling them

you can buy them $215.00 brand new...
his problem is, the gears are for the 9 1/4, not
the 8 1/4, and they seem a little overpriced.

They put 7 1/4's , 8 1/4's , and 9 1/4's in Dakotas. With the exception of R/T's and 4 bangers there is no real order on which they go in other than gear ratio. My 318 Club Cab Dakota came with an 8 1/4 with a 3.55 open diff but one of my co-workers just bought an '02 Reg Cab el-strippo 2.5 , 5 speed Dakota and it came through with a 9 1/4 with 3.92's and a sure grip where as most 2.5 trucks I've seen have 7 1/4 rears in them.

All '02's come with the 9 1/4 rearend.

I'm pretty sure my '02 RC 3.9L automatic has an 8 1/4" Dana 35 in it...10 bolts on the cover..."Corporate 8" on the tag in the glove compartment.
