Subject: hot summer = fluid leaks everywhere IP: Logged
Message: Am I the only one who is suffering from fluid leaks this summer with 100+ degree weather? It seems my tranny, crankcase, rear differential, did not start leaking until around June of this year, mysteriously all at the same time!
I need help....

Message: Where do you live?. What year is your truck?. Have you change the tranny filter?. Have you change the pcv valve and breather filter?. Have you replaced the gear oil at the diff and if you did, what kind of oil and sealant did you used? All this questions need to be answered in order for the people in this forum that knows about cars can help you. Hope if not me, someone can help you.

Message: See if this helps your diagnosis. My tranny fluid and filter was changed 2 years ago (about 40,000 miles as I've put a lot of miles on it). The crankcase fluid? I have no idea, and I've owned my truck for 3 years so far. I did the rear diff fluid this morning, and I guess it really wasnt leaking after all. As soon as I pulled out the rubber thing, oil came spilling out immediately.
I'm in Utah. Dry Utah. My motor oil leak seems to be dripping a little more with this weather, and that is the same time I noticed the crankcase and the tranny a little wet, too. Hope this helps.

Message: Ok! let's start with the crankcase.Utah if I'm not mistaken, is damm cold in winter and damm hot in summer. Am I correct? Well the rubber used for seals and gaskets have only so much tolerance to extreme weather so they either toast in summer or they crack in winter. This applies to problably most of your leaking problems. Lets note also that another factor is pressure. Too much oil on either one of this components you are having problems with leads to pressure that the gasket may not be able to handle. As per your tranny,is time for oil and filter change. Also "pcv valve" is responsible for valve cover leaks if not working properly. So check you fluid levels and replace the gaskets and seals that are at fault. I bet you is going to take care of your problem.
P.S. don't use too much gasket sealer!!
I hope this helps
