Subject: Anyone W/ Cobra radar dect. IP: Logged
Message: I have a Cobra radar detector w/ 9 bands and voice alert etc. I have noticed that you can hook a speaker up to the unit in order to expel the sound outa a larger speaker rather than the units small one. It has a audio jack on the right side of it. I tried uooken up a 3in speaker just to see if it would work. But it had no power and the sound was faint. What about if I got a tweeter and hooked it up. Would that work? Anyone done this before?
My tires wine and my exhaust hums and my system thumps so I really cant hear the radar alerts well. Any comments?
Thanks.

Message: Actually I thought the audio jack was to plug in some headphones to. I have the XR-1010.

Message: If your amp has an extra input, just run to your local radio shack, pick up an 1/8th inch audio to a dual RCA. Then hook one end into the radar detector, the other into your amp and you're all set.
That would probably work really well, but in all seriousness the radar's audio output is probably in need of an amplified speaker, and for one that's louder than an exhaust note and bass-thumpin', you'll probably need a pretty decent amplified speaker set.
