Message: I got them at Karbelt in Oshawa, and I paid WAY too much for them. Around $120 with tax. PartSource, also on Simcoe St. in Oshawa has the yellow ones for $69. Ticks me off, when I was in the states, I saw them at AutoZone for about $40. Grrr.

Message: They fit fine. They are universal, so you can slide the brackets forward or backwards as need be.
After I installed them, I totally forgot they were there, until I had to back uphill out of a driveway, and did a big, stinky burnout. Cool! :)

Message: Are they simple to put on and take off? I have a 4x4 and mainly bought it for the normally snowy winters here in Alberta. In the summer though it stays on the payment 98% of the time and I have a huge traction problem even with my 31's. I get some serious axle wrap when dropping the clutch at 1200-1500RPM. No tire spin just axle wrap.

Message: Really easy. About 20 minutes. I know absolutely nothing about 4x4s, so I dunno if they would help.

Message: man prices have gone up - I bought a pair of yellow lakewood universal traction bars for my TransAm years back and ended up selling the car before putting the bars on. They are still brand new in the box somewhere. And I paid less than $30 for them.

Message: I think they are still around $39-$40 US. Up here in Canada, everything is expensive.

Message: Note For XLTSPCL: If you are having issues with axle wrap and breaking traction, its a bit more expensive but from what I've seen Roadmaster Active Suspension works much better. For starters, they mount on top of the spring instead of underneath so ground clearance isn't compromised. Secondly, the entire set up is completely adjustable so if you happen to be carrying a load, you can tighten the setup. You can also comensate for the drivers weight by adjusting only one side. I think the kit for a Dak is about $200 US. You can check Speedtweaks, I know I've seen them there. Bernd and crew were doing a test on them but I haven't heard any feedback on how they like it.

Message: In the "For What It's Worth" category, I just did a search for Lakewood traction bars and everything I saw for a Dak was in the $200 price range. AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts don't even list them. Napa has Belkamp Tractions bars made by Mr. Gasket (same parent company as Lakewood) in yellow for about $52 and Chrome for about $75 US.
