I'm actually in Hammond, bought it in baton rouge, but will try to make out there. The job took about 4 and a half hours. Not bad at all.
Definetly worth it. I think the next thing i'll do is the HO cams.

Great job on the install! Looks like everything went together with no problems. Bet she'll stop on a dime now ;-)

Send some of that fine Cajun Gumbo up here to Joisey in a care package, LOL!!!

Used to be an over-the-road truck driver got laid over once in Lafayette, ate at a place I think it was called Randall's, excellent food, live Zydeco band. It was like I died and went to heaven, LOL!

I live 5 minutes from randols! I pass it every day on the way to work. I would have recommended Prejeans. Randol's is good Cajun food but they charge $$$

Next time you'll be in the area drop me an email.

Nice work Michael, couple of questions on it.

1. How is the stopping power now?

2. When you need to replace the pads, how would you get them? Are they the same as the front pads, just get them at the local parts shop?

3. How was the hookup for the parking brake? Did you need to modify the lines for it?

Thanks for your time.

Did it go as easy as the photos make it look???

Did the parking brake attach easily?

It's probably an optical illusion (to me anyway) but did it space the wheels out?

Was everything included in the kit? Who makes it? How much was it? Does it take special order pads?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm seriously thinking about doing it myself.

It looks like you did a great job!!! Thanks for taking the time to photograph and share the process!!

4wDakota/Corey,

Cool, yeah it was the first time I had 'gator, tastes just like chicken, heheheh! Yup it was a little pricey, but heck for that kind of experience it was worth it!

Man I wish I could get back down your way again but now I'm a regional driver- northeast :-(
Best I can do now is up to Boston or Maine for a lobster dinner ;-)

1. About a 4 1/2 hour job, a little longer if you completely bleed the system and replace it with synthetic like I did.

2. You wouldn't believe the increase in stopping power, dramatically reduces the stopping distance. %100 better stability when stopping.
All this is achieved not only by installing the rear disc, but by modifying the distribution block per instructions. You can place more of the braking force toward the rear, still less than the front, because the kit is designed to withstand the extra pressure, that drums cannot.

3. You can go to the parts store to get replacements, or reorder the force 10 pads from stainless steel brakes. SSB told me if I go to the parts store ask for pads for a ford turbo thunderbird. The SSB calipers are a modified version from that car.

4. The PB was a sinch, just loosen the cable adjustment under the cab and pull out the slack and slide the cable onto the preinstalled lever w/ return spring onto the caliper. ( note the lever and return spring are pre-installed.)
no modifications needed.

5. The kit comes from Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation, I ordered through Performance Suspension.com for $749.00, that included free shipping and a free slotted rotor upgrade.

6. They give you new stainless lines for the rear calipers.

7. This kit is a complete bolt-on.

8. The wheels are not spaced out because of the kit, I added R/T rims to the truck, I just don't have the R/T flares installed yet. So the wheels do stick out a little bit, but not because of the kit.

9. I definitly recommend this kit to anyone wanting a "safer stop".

PSS. To see why I decided to do this see my post on the thread - first the discs, now the drums.
