Subject: 93 Dakota runs hot IP: Logged
Message: I have replaced the thermostat, water pump and catalytic converter but my '93 Dakota still runs hot. I'm in the process of draining the radiator now. It will not pass smog testing. Any suggestions?

Message: Have your radiator checked, could need to be rodded out.
and .... Are you getting any big bubbles in your coolant (a sign of a blown head gasket).
P.S. Always check a "new" thermostat on a stove using a broiler and a candy thermometer just to make sure you do not have a "dud" .... I have seen one thermostat be bad right out of the box and I have heard of one other person experiance the same thing.

Message: When the truck is warmed up feel the radiator for cold spots, these would indicate clogged areas if the rad is warm all over and the coils look clean inside under the cap it is probably not the rad. Also ck the front of the rad for bugs and papers and ck the clutch fan it may be worn.
