Subject: Finally a 5.7 hemi in the R/T! - stock IP: Logged
Message: Well I went to www.edmunds.com to see whats new for the dakotas in 2004. They say that the dakota will be restyled and the R/T will get a long deserved engine transplant. A 5.7 hemi. How cool is that? I think I will start saving now.

Message: Edmunds is guessing, quite frankly. The configuration for the '04 hasn't been decided and I think it's becoming widely accepted that the restyle of the Dakota won't take place until '05. Probably the same time the hemi becomes an option. The Durango will get a makeover before the Dakota(most likely '04 model year for the Durango).

Message: Actually the redesigns are due out about the
same time. I saw some pics of the new dakota
and durango, but they were in heavy disguise.
And the 5.7 will be replacing the 5.9.
I think they are due around 03/04. The 5.7 will
make its debut in the heavy duty ram first though.

Message: Well, I better start saving if I wanna get one of these by the time I turn 18, and I better get a DAMN good job soon. That is my goal, but I dont suspect it will happen, my Current rt will do just fine though :) .
Can anyone estimate what the price will be on one of these beasts? (Im guessing no one has any clue.)

months ago. They showed a couple pics of the
new dakota and durango in heavy disguise.

Message: If you look in the September 2002 copy of Four Wheeler magazine, pg. 20, you'll see the Durango. It is very disguised. Who knows how well the mags resources are, but they usually are pretty correct!

Message: Why wait till 2005 for the new Dakota's. Go Out & buy the New Chevy SS with the 6.0(Escalade motor with 345 horses w/out blower). 95 horses more than a Dakota R/T. Imagine what kind of horsepower with a blower because it's only 45 horses less than a Lightning which is blown. And I have a 99 Dakota now. So I think I'm going to go look at the new SS Chevy's when they hit the dealer while yall are still waitin 3 more years for the new Hemi's in the R/T's. That is if they even build it. Enuff Said. Message: J,D Leddon,
Try this out. http://www.chevrolet.com/ssr/news/pr_4.htm Accourding to that it is only getting the 5300 which is only 285hp a little less than the hemi and only 30 hp more than the current R/T. If you think that you can get that SSR for anything close to the price of an R/T you are deranged. Thats it I'm done.
'99 RC R/T,Gibson Headers and Cat-back, MSD 6a BTM, IAT adjuster, Powerdyne Supercharger. M-1 4/2 now on.

Message: Lew360 I'm not talking about the Chevy SSR. I'm talking about the Chevy SS Silverado (Full Size)that is due out sometime late 2002.And yes the motor is 345 horses without blower.

Message: Go for the chevy 6.0L if piston slap and blowing rear ends is your thing. The 5.7 Hemi is suppost to make 345 stock with out a blower. Put a blower on that and that will be probably the fastest truck in your neighour hood.
Chevy owners live with a cloud around there head. They are very observnt to all other brand faults but well there whole truck is falling apart, squeeking, rattling, blowing limited slip, oil leaks, fan motor ticks, they go about there lives as if nothing happend and there truck is still king $hit.

Message: Well I am sure someone will total their 5.7 hemi heavy duty before the year is up and so here is my suggestion go to the junkyard and get the engine and tranny for about 3 -4 grand and don't look back and you could be running 13's in no time.

Message: That's amazing! Chevy will make a speciality truck with the Caddy motor that makes the same power as every 2003 Ram 2500 and 3500 make? Even the basic, Cal-trans, vinal seat, RC 2wd ones? And what's Chevy calling their "Monster"? the SS or the SST maybe? maybe the standard old 2500 series Ram should be the R/T to go with a truely impressive Hot Rod, the 500HP SRT Ram. Chevy still ain't got nothing on the Dodge.
