Subject: squeaky clutch slave cylinder... IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 Dak 4WD CC with the 5.2 and a 5 speed. I have been noticing lately that my clutch's hydraulic slave cylinder had become increasing louder as far as squeaking when applying the pedal on and off. How difficult is it to replace yourself? Anyone know how much the slave cylinders go for (sources for part?)? Does the entire setup (master cylinder and line) have to be replaced as a unit? THANKS!!!

Message: I have been told that this is a "weak spot" on Dodge trucks. My mecahnic buddies tell me that when really cold weather arrives (-10F) the dodge trucks start coming into the shop because the clutch slave cylinder blows out the seal.
FOr your "squeeking", Have you tried lubing the metal-to-metal contact point where the slave-cylinder pushes on the release mechinism?
