Message: I put that kit on my 99 R/T and it was a breeze. Be careful, the first time you hit the pedal hard your head might hit the steering wheel.

Message: Well finished the installation, it didn't
take long at all. I even flushed the system and
put in valvoline synthetic fluid. It works
%100 better than the drum setup. I highly recommend this setup to anyone. Hey it even
cuts down some weight. They are lighter than the drums.

Message: You have to call. But, trust me it is the same give me your e-mail i'll send you some pics.
Their books aren't updated. You can call
stainless steel brakes to verify like I
did before I made the purchase.
Definitely worth the $.
The reason I bought through them though is
b/c the kit was on sale through
performancesuspension.com and not
through SSBC.

I just caught you have an 02.
Mine is a 00.
They might be the same though.
Like I said before
performance suspension did
not have the updated books

Message: How much did this cost? You must be really
driving your truck hard if you went to rear
discs. Upgrading your front rotors would have
given you better bang for you buck since 70%
of your braking is done by them, and its a disc
setup already.
03 Daks are coming standard with 4 discs
arent they? Waiting around for a wreck to get
your hands on that axle would have been an
option as well.
I have thought of this modification but passed
because it wasn't worth my time, budget, or
needs.
Enjoy.

Message: Check the threads for my post on, I think it was under "first the disc, now the drums", to find out why I decided to do the conversion. For short though I was having problems with the drums from the time aquired the truck, (bought it used with 30k on the odometer) been to the dealer a few times and was told it wasn't covered under warranty and to replace the drums and backing plates would cost me $800.00 or more.
So I decided to go with Stainless Steel Brakes rear conversion kit from performance suspension.com for $749.00 and free shipping and free slotted rotor upgrade. Which way would you go? I prefer shorter stopping distance. Oh by the way, you don't have to drive your truck hard to require better braking.
With the rear conversion you modify the distribution block so it better balances the front and rear disc, FYI. Thereby relieving some of the stress placed on the front rotors and not to mention %100 better stopping power and dramatically reduced stopping distance.
PS. check the other post for the complete story.
PSS. Betcha my front brakes last way longer than yours.
