Subject: Driverside Power Window IP: Logged
Message: Ive had my truck for about 3 years now. Last year, i noticed the Driverside window was startin to go down a little slower then ussual. some times on its way down it will shake a bit. Then after it rains or i wash it it goes down normal speed. Well i took the panel off and looked at everything and i didnt notice anything wrong. the tracks were clear, the window was aligned right. Everything seemed fine to me. If any of you know what is up with this thing let me know. I wanna know what is wrong so i can fix it, cause it gets a little annoying after awhile.

Message: 1.Check this, the condition of the lower window seal, outside of window usually. Sometimes all the felt wears off of this and causes a lot of friction with the glass dry. I've seen pine sap get on it and cause this (kids cola spilled on it).
2.Also take off the door panels again and put a very small amount of lithium grease in the tracks and rollers, also make sure the rollers are turning. I've not opened a dakota door before to look but these tracks are usually in the middle behind the glass when it's down, 2 of them. On some really older cars the tracks are on the outside edge. These are the ones that wear real bad and causes the glass to fall out of place. Dakota could be this kind also.
Hope this helps,

Message: CrzyBri82,
My driver window does the same thing on my 2000 dak, and its getting worse. My door seals are fine. The passenger window is about twice as fast as the driver window. When operating them both at the same time, the driver window is even slower. When the key is in auxillary position, it's really slooooooooooooow.
Too bad I noticed it just after my warranty ran out.
Does anyone know if this is a faulty motor?

Message: Mine does the same exact thing. I also noticed when i was checking everything, the motor was really warm. so i checked the passanger side one and it wasnt as warm. so i let the truck sit for a few hours checked them again they were cooled off. i ran em both at the same time then checked them agian. the pass. side was still cool, and the driverside was warm. so im thinkin that the motor on the driverside might be bad.

Message: also check the connection for corrosion at the motor. The reason for a slowing window when in dual operation is low voltage. Even perfect windows slow when both are engaged.
The jumping window when dry is definantly a friction. Almost always track.

Message: Also the warm motor says it's working really hard to move the glass, ie friction.

Message: OK guys, I decided to take my door apart and see what was wrong with my window. (I used to be an engineer designing automotive seals)since I was having the same problems... Driver window going down extremely slow, but once it was about half way down, it went down the rest of the way just fine.
Here is what I found: The front lower seal that is inside of the metal channel below the beltline (ie. inside the door) needs replaced. I took all the parts out and that was the only one that needed replaced. Now my window works fine. That explains why silicone can help short-term to spray down the forward edge of the glass. I bought mine on dodgeparts.com here is the link.
https://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getLocator&siteid=213872&chapter=DR3TF97&appSectionid=2732&groupid=51894&subgroupid=8363&componentid=3481&make=8&model=Dakota&year=2001&graphicID=TF97403&callout=6&catalogid=2
Let me know if anyone has any questions. Oh, by the way, make sure when you take the door panel off, you just lift it up, there are no clips that hold it in like some other models.

Message: I looked at the site and saw the part you bought. I have the same problem, and am interested in the same repair. Can you explain what to do to replace that part once you remove the door panel? Thanks

Message: I have replaced the front and rear seal and the one that goes all the way around the window but still have the problem.
Everyone that is having this problem be very careful and take care of this problem ASAP as there are 3 small plastic rollers that travel in the tracks of the window regulator and they are not replacable once they are broken. I had to replace the whole assembly at over $100 to get my window to roll up and down again.
I believe my problem is with the horizontal seals that "squeegee" the water off the glass as the window rolls down as yates-in-de
said above that is my problem. Those is the only seals that I have not replaced.
