What is or how do I find out the gear ratio for my 2-wheel 99 V6 Dakota?

It will be on a data tag attached to the rear axle. Some times it is a small welded on tag, bolted on tag and some times if the truck hasn't been ragged to bad you will find a bar code sticker with the gear ratio. Aso the dealer can take the serial number and check it against the original invoice and find out what it was shipped with, barring no one has changed it aftermarket.

I'm not sure if you are the original owner or not (previous owner may have changed gears)...so, I'll throw this out there...it is the easiest way to get an idea without popping the diff cover.

Jack up the rear of your Dak, and place marks at the bottom of the driveshaft & tires. Then, with the truck in neutral, rotate the driveshaft, counting rotations, until one of the tires makes a full revolution.

If you turned the driveshaft ~3.5 turns, you have 3.55's. If it was closer to ~4 turns, then they are 3.92's. etc., etc.
