You may have to call to get them to order it, they are a dealer, they just don't carry all of them in stock.
If you get them let us know what you payed.

Message: I'd try the 99 one's if summit won't charge you a restocking fee if they don't fit. I don't think they are different. The 4x4's may have changed but the 2wd's should not have. I know the 2wd suspension lifts for 99 and 2000 aren't different.

Message: The Moogs are a far better deal than the OEMs from the dealer. Moogs have a grease fitting located on the top where as the dealers don't. Not to mention if you want new upper ball joints from the dealer, you will be buying a new upper A arm.
Replaced my uppers on my 98 4 by 4 and glad I didn't go with the OEMs.

Message: How do you know if you have bad ball joints? On my right side, whenever I turn the wheel all the way to the left and reverse, I hear a loud POP sound. I don't get the sound if I turn the wheel the other way, and the sound isn't there if I go forward. I looked under-neath around the wheel etc, and I didn't find anything to be missing. I don't know what's wrong.

Message: Ball Joints!!!!! interesting chat guys, I asked a question on this board bout 3 weeks ago bout upper ball joints. I have a '00 CC 4.7 auto 2WD
My right upper ball joint was bad (making that poping sound) and I went to 3 garages and they all said the 99 and earlier would not work on my '00. The Moog for 99 and earlier was bout $40.
With the advice I was given here bout being interchangeable, I went to a parts house and purchased the '99 ball joint and then went to the dealer( only the dealer has the '00 as I was told by the parts guy and he was correct).
The ball joints are NOT the same nor are they interchangeable!!!!! ie, the length of the shaft(about 1/2" shorter on the 99) and diameter on the ball joint is much different, also the bolt pattern (to attach the ball joint to the upper control are not in the same locaton)
And as of 3 weeks ago only the dealer has the parts, the upper control arm and the ball joint comes as one piece and is bout $195 and is still NOT greaseable.
Oh, I have 38k miles (I purchased it new) on my Dak and it is not abused or hardly been off the pavement.
That's the facts!!!

Message: Curt, you may be correct...I have an '02 4x2, and I haven't had to replace my balljoints as of yet. However, I've seen posts on this board where people with post-2000 Daks have reported using the '97 to '99 Moog balljoints with direct interchangeability. So, for the record, could anyone who's changed their balljoints on a 2000+ NON 4x4 Dakota, please tell us if the Moog balljoints worked or NOT? Thanks!...P

Message: That's weird about being different , cause fabtech has the 3" lift for 97 to 03 and its the same arm with the same balljoint , I have the lift on my truck , and chaximus had to replace his joints and bought them at napa , unless the fabtech arm stayed the same and the stock ones didn't ..............the ones from napa have a grease fitting also ..........

Message: I did forget to mention something bout the ball joints, the '99 and earlier have the grease fitting and the '00 and later don't.
Something else I might add, my Dak was manufactured in mid '00.......maybe the earlier '00's were the same as the '99's!!!!!
We all know that any manufacturer will use all of the parts they have in stock before going to the "improved" version! LOL

Message: your probably right rivermaniac. Fabtech has kept it simple, one control arm for all model years. Mopar has just changed the design of their suspension for year 2000, probably a millenium bug and left us with 2000 and up dakotas at the mercy of Diamler Chrysler replacement parts. Soon I hope Just a replacement ball joint with a grease fitting will be available for my 2001.

Message: I've seen several picture posts of people doing upper Joint replacement, but none on the lowers. The upper looks like a piece of cake. It's the lowers that has me worried. Can anyone point me to a picture post on lower replacement? Just FYI autoparts-site.com has Moog uppers for $41.42 and lowers for $38.72 ea. in stock.
