Message: I plan on putting some new tires on my 93 4x4 Dakota w/318 and am looking at th BF Goodgrich A/T's. I see them everywhere so I assume they are a good tire for offroad use aswell as street and highway driving. While looking in a catalog I see they have tire sizes like P235 and then they have P265's. What is the difference between the two and if I am running P235's now, will the P265's fit? Are they a taller tire? Also, I hear some of you talk about speed ratings. Could these tires handle up to 120mph once every blue moon?

Message: The first number you see (ex.265,235) is the width of the tire, the second number (ex.70,75) is the ratio of width to hight. There is a matematical way to come up with the tire hight in inches but i cant remeber now so i do have a link that may help. http://www.gordon-glasgow.org/tirecalc.html

Message: Those are good tires but if you want a real good set that look way cooler and work better get Goodyear wrangler AT-S. Belive me they bite into dirt mud and snow like you wouldn't belive. Really is a good tire. I didn't like the BFG's because of the way they drove. They were slippery in the rain. Look at the goodyears. I got them on a 99 durango and never got stuck yet. I even pulled a hummer out of a snowbank that the idiot thought he could get through but hung him self up. And every weekend i do a 300m stretch of highway driving and there great with smooth responcive ride. Definit improvement over the stock goodyear rs-a. As for your tire size. 265 or 235 is the width in milimeters. 70 is the ratio of rubber to the rim the higher the number the taller the tire ex. a tire with a raito of 20 would be like a low profile. and the final number is the rim size.
so LT235/85R15
Lt = Light truck
235= Width
85 = raito
R radial
15 rim size.
On my durango i put 32" tires and thats the biggest size you can put on a stock durango but for your truck i don't know.

Message: I'm with Blizzard. I've had Goodyear AT/S's and while they are a good tire no doubt, I like BFG's better. Currently have 32x11.50's on mine and love them, especially the new KO's. We have lots of rain here in Florida and they do great on the road and off. But again, it is still personal choice.

Message: Well im glad your happy with them. Mine were ok but most of the time i needed them for snow. They were ok but i found that the bfg's hunted for traction which caused me a lot of fatige well driving with the goodyears it feels like the road is dry all the time. Like you said though to each his own.

Been running BFG A/T's pretty much since Day-One...and a BFG "Die Hard" for many years.
If you look in the 4WD magazines (and not just one) you'll see the choice tire is a BFG in the All Terrain department.

Message: I am a bigggg BfG fan. I had the new A/T KO's on my cherokee. They were 31 x 10.5 x 15 and they were great. I never got stuck with them. They handle good in the rain and all over. Its a good all around tire. They are also 3 ply sidewall. So if your gonna do some off roading you dont have to worry to much about side wall blowout and tearing. My dakota came with goodyear and there ok. My opinion is goodyear suck!! They are just a name and the tread wear fast.But thats my 4 cents.

Message: Hi All,
I too am in the market for new tires for my 98' Dakota 4 x 4 Sport. Size is 31x10.5R15.
What about Michelin LTX AT's? I know they're expensive but they seem to get good reviews on the web. Thanks.

Message: Well... I just put the BF Goodrich ATs on mine about 3 weeks ago.. and so far I am VERY happy with them.
Yes, the Michelins cost more, but I "personally think" that the BF Goodrichs are a better buy for the money...
BTW, I do put Michelins on my T'Bird though...
