has anyone converted their open rear end on their 4th gen Dakota to the limited slip like the R/T has (I believe)? If so where did you source the parts from, how much did they cost and how involved is the install? I would really like to stay away from posi rear ends because I dont care for all the mechanical noise they make. This is just a daily driver, not a race car. The only reason I want limited slip is for more traction in wet/winter conditions. Thanks for any help you gentleman can provide.

A posi is a limited slip. Posi is what GM called their lim slip dif's and the term just becam generic for all limited slips. A locker and/or a spool make all the noise you speak of. As for installation very difficult. You have to be very careful to set the pinion depth and backlash correctly. Me and my friend put a new rear in his Z28 and after much work the f.n thing hummed.If your gonna try it make sure you have a garage and a lift. We did it in the driveway, what a pain.

just got my rear in the other day, its a powertrax "no slip" similar to limited slip, it cost about $400, the install wasnt too hard, it does make noise everytime i turn the wheel all the way (parking) but i like it alot, both tires light up very nicley, it rips sideways, and fishtails easily in the rain, i also had 4.10's put in, great mod.
