Subject: What would YOU do???(R/T supercharging) IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys. You've helped me before....and I'm sure you'll help me again;)! I have about $6,500-$7,000 saved up and am getting an R/T, hopefully soon. I am wanting/praying for an '03 R/T(if they make'em!) I am probably getting a Paxton Novi 2000 supercharger kit(approx. $4,200 w/o install)I will be installing all of the stuff myself so do not include install, but....what else would you get to run a Supercharger with the remainder of the money? Take the $4,200 out of the original amount. I am wondering what all else I would NEED to run it safely? Or to make it run more.....comfortably. Don't want to much premature engine wear. The supercharger will be going on the truck as soon as possible (probably right after break in, which, by the way, How long do you have to break in a truck?) I had figured, 52mm TB, Lo-tek 3 gauge pod w/ a/f, boost/vac, and Fuel pres. I also figured in Transgo SK. I am not really wanting a M1 because I do not want to loose all of the low end grunt and don't think I have enough $ for a flash to go with the M1 to even get to where it puts the power. Also, Can you run a Vortech T-trim on a stock R/T (14psi)??? I think I can get all of that for under that amount? If you think I have room to spare or think I should have one thing instead of something else...tell me what I should have... I am not sure about what all I need. Thanks, Austin Long

Message: Why waste all that money on a slow ass Dakota R/T. Spend it on a Lightning or the new V10 Viper Truck that is coming out soon.

Message: i have talked to 3 guys with the novi 2000 on there R/T's and 2 of them ONLY have headers as threre other mod. (and of course boost guage and pod) the paxton kit is a complete kit, and comes with a great fuel sytem, as well as a ignition system.
honestly i would STRONGLY recomend the 2bbl M-1!! when i installed it on my truck i noticed a verry little loss in torque, but you can move a vaccume hose and get it back.
it also gives you a LOT of HP in the upper rpm's and you dont have to worry about the belly pan gasket blowing, because the M-1 eliminates it!
another great item is the 52mm TB!
if you dont want to do a cam swap, get the 1.7 roller rocker arms. it gives a little more lift and duration from the cam, and you will get more power throughout the entire rpm range.
if you change the headgaskets, you could run up to 9-11 #'s of boost providing you take the right amout of timing out. a guy in AZ is running like 15#'s, but i dont know what else he has done to the engine.
i will be getting a SC in about 2 weeks, so ill let you know how it works with my mods. good luck on the truck!

Message: 2 blue, the R/T's are about 10k cheaper than the lightning, and with 2-5k in mods (depending if you want nitrious of a blower), you can kick the crap out of them!!
and the SRT10 (viper truck) will be nice, but that is going to be like 40-50k!

Message: very interesting...
as a new owner of a t-trim owner, i am interested to see what mods will work together. i was planning on doing MP headers, m1 and a hi-po TB.
i am currently deployed and will be watching from afar. i won't be able to do any work to my truck until december (that sucks, but my mileage is only 15K).
please keep us posted on your progress...

Message: A J&S Ultra Safeguard timing controller will keep your stock head gaskets in place for a long time.
Call John at J&S and talk to him about it.

Message: Why not save some real $ & just buy a 4.7 Dakota & put mods on it. Because it'll either run with or blow the doors off of a R/T, depending on the mods you do to it.
