 Subject: Preparations prior to welding?

I'm welding a trailer connector bracket to the cross-member of my trailer hitch on my 2001 Dakota. Is there anything special I should do with the truck's electrical system prior to welding? Anything to disconnect to be safe rather than sorry? Thanks.

yes, disconnect the batt. and clean the spot your going to weld (wire brush,grinder,ect.) and go to town!!

I would also unplug the computer as well. Why risk it?
