Subject: AUMINUM DRIVESHAFT?
IP: Logged

Message:
My 2000 4WD dakota has a STEEL driveshaft with NO center carrier bearing.

I have heard that there are some Daks with an ALUMINUM driveshaft. Is it the 2WD models with this?.. Or do ALL the newer Daks have the ALUMINUM driveshaft?

I have a similar question. I have a 93 extended cab 4WD, V6, 5 speed that has an aluminum driveshaft, and I had the u-joints replaced this past week. My friend at the shop said they had a heck of a time getting the right u-joint, since the one listed in their books was not the correct one. I was wondering if maybe it was some sort of option combination that got the aluminum driveshaft instead of the steel one. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Maybe it has something to do with being the extended cab?? or which engine you have??
