I would like to know who would win in a race between my 93 4x4 Dakota longbed w/318ci,3.55gears, and 102,000mi. or a late model 4x4 Ram w/318? What is the weight difference between the two?

Close to 1000lbs. The question is highly dependent on the driver and vehicle condition...so I can't say who would win.
As for the comparison...why?

andrew, I have a 98 sport with the 318 and 5 speed its a 4x2 clubcab. I raced a 98-99 clubcab 4x2 ram with a 318...maby a 360, with an auto. We raced for about 1/4 to 1/2 mile. When i took my foot off the gas, I was ahead by like 2 truck lengths. ( I slowed down because I didnt see a cop sitting on a side street, it almost cost me a $930 ticket. Insted I got 2 points on my record and a $135 ticket for "ingaged in a speed contest") so if you're thinking about raceing watch out for "THE MAN". untill next time, keep your right foot on the floor and your seatbelt on.

the dakota should win if the driver can drive half decent, expecially if the engine displacements are the same. the rams are alot heavier plus the ram had an automatic transmission.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Now, I would like to know if Rams and Dakotas share anything besides some engines(i.e. Auto trannys, transfer cases, front/rear axles, gears)? About how much does the regular cab, short bed, 4x4 Ram w/360 weigh?

I have a 2000 CC 4.7 3.55 auto basically stock except wheels and tires. I raced my friends 2000 Ram CC with all kinds of aftermarket and a 360, auto. I smoke him every time! They are so much bigger and weigh so much our "little trucks" should beat them hands down.
