Subject: can a daytona motor go in a dakota? IP: Logged
Message: well i have a 1989 daytona not in that good of shape but the motor is strong. my friend needs a motor for his 198? dakota(4cyl). now i know that my car is front wheel drive and his truck is rear wheel drive. but will it still bolt up to his tranny and motor mounts?
or will he need diffirent motor mounts?
any help would be nice. thanks

Your in luck, it should fit, I had a buddy in college who showed me how they had left one of the brackets for the FWD setup from the factory. I guess with mass production, that's what they did. Look at the front of his motor, there's probly some kind of bracket that leads to nothing.

Message: Have to look at the block in the Daytona. Some of the blocks were cast with the bosses for a RWD conversion. If you have those it should work with a little machine work.
