Subject: Rear Differential capacity?? IP: Logged
Message: Got a 2000 4.7L Dak with the 3.55 Limited Slip Diff. I was going to go with Amsoil synthetic when I change it out but HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUY? They sell it by the quarts. How many quarts do you need?

Message: According to my little book.
4.4 pts if you have the 8 1/4" rear end
4.8 pts if you have the 9 1/4" rear end
But add .22 pints of friction modifer with a LSD.
I changed mine this morning. There is an easy way to tell which rea end you have. Look under the truck, and there it will be written.

Message: I bought 5 qts for the front and rear diffs. AMSOIL gear lube is formulated such that the extra friction modifier needed for LSD's is not needed, meaning do not add it if you use the AMSOIL product. Check the website to verify this. Good luck.
2002 QC 4x4 Sport Plus, 4.7L, auto, Patriot Blue, Tire & Handling group, Heavy Duty Service group, Leer cap w/out windows, Mopar Step bars and roof rack, Rhino liner in bed and on step bars, Pace Edwards Power Tailgate lock 3.55 rear, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, all possible fluids are AMSOIL
