Subject: Gibson vs Flowmaster vs... IP: Logged
Message: Some say Gibson, some say Flowmaster, Dynomax, Borla......
I'm looking for maximum flow, MINIMUM noise.
I'm leaning toward a Gibson single 3" side-exit.
Opinions, please!

Message: If you want minimum noise, the gibson may not be for you. Mine is pretty noisy. I have only compared it to the borla system, and the borla was a little quieter and somewhat more mellow. I don't know about flows, I doubt there is a lot of difference between each.

Message: I have a flowmaster 40 series 2-chamber and it is LOUD. This is the loudest that flowmaster has available, but it sounds great. I prefer the tone of flowmaster over gibson (had that first and switched) or Borla. Flowmaster has a good variety of mufflers available that are not as loud. Try their 50 series or delta flow. These are quieter.

Message: I just got the Gibson and I love the sound. Yes it is loud but in a good way. The sound is better than allot of V8's I have heard. My Exhaust it musch better than I could have imagined. I went with the straight out the back with dual 2.5" pipes with 3" chrome exhaust tips. I gained some HP and improved my MPG.

Message: I have the gibson 3" single swept side. It is kinda loud but sounds great. It is not overwhelming. Can still stomp on it and not draw so much attention that the cops come runnin. But it still turns heads. =)

Message: I have also owned both. Changed from the Gibson to Flowmaster Delta 40 about a year ago. You won't notice any difference in performance between the two (or any other major brand for that matter). I personally like the sound of the Flowmaster better, and that is why I switched. Find a muffler shop that will chop off your old muffler and hold the two you want to compare up and listen for yourself. The Flowmaster I have now has less resonance in the cab, but growls just as much at WOT. If you want even quieter, go with a 50 series. Exhaust sound is very subjective. What one person likes, you may hate, so you just have to listen for yourself to decide.
