Subject: FREEZE PLUGS IP: Logged
Message: Three months ago I purchased a used 2000 R/T, 36K miles. I noticed a coolant leak and took it back to the dealer. It was a bad freeze plug, corroded from the inside- which is not covered by the 3rd party warranty bought with the truck. Fine, I paid them $275, because it was behind the engine mount. The next morning, there were more puddles. I took it back and now 4 others (one or two at the back side of block)are showing leaks. I understand that the when the first leaking plug was replaced, it could increase the coolant pressure inside the block, and cause other leaks. (but to cause 4 to leak?)
Has anyone else had similar problems w/ the 5.9?

Message: Having one freeze plug replaced would not increase pressure. All of the freeze plugs should have been changed at that price. He was already in there to fix the one.
All of the freeze plugs must be corroding and you should be considering the condition of the cooling system because the truck is not very old.
