does any one know the best way to remove the spring hangers on a 98 dakota? im thinking of using a air chizle to knock off the head of the rivit and drilling it out. does this sound like too much work? or should i take it someware and have them cut it off with a plazma cutter? also to you think i will need to remove the gas tank (its a close fit between the tank and the frame) thanks

the rear of my truck is lowered 6", with a 2" shackel and a 4" lowering block. i want to keep the shackle and install a 3" hanger and a 1" block. eventually i want to do away with the leafspring pack altogether and install a 4-link setup. any ideas on the hangers?

kota, just took off my rear bumper to take out some dents and paint (also noticed wires for trailor need to be replaced)but i was looking at the rear spring hanger you can cut the heads off with a die grinder and punch them threw with a punch.also noticed that the rubber brake line that hooks up to the line from up front was really rusty.going to clean and paint that also.good luck!steve

on a 6" drop I had to c-notch the frame. the c-notch came with a polyurithane bump stop (about 1/2" tall). If your going with a 4" drop you can just cut the bumpstop. havent changed the hanger yet, but im going to take out the gas tank (Im going to use a plazme cutter on the rivets and i dont want to see what happens when a plazma cutter cuts through a gas tank!) hope i answered your questions

oh I almost for got, if you do a c-notch you will have to relocate the e-brake cable. The c-notch kit from western chassis comes with the relocator.

The 4" drop from belltech supplies a new bumpstop. Have to drill a new hole for it though.
